Grip sole · five-toe design

Grip you can actually see

A full hex-silicone sole and five separated toe pockets — built to bite the mat and let every toe spread the way it should. This is the traction your pivots have been missing.

One-piece stretch knit

Built to move with you

Give it a pull. The ribbed knit stretches to hug your arch and ankle, then snaps back into shape — so it locks on without bunching or slipping, round after round and wash after wash.

Your feet were built to spread. Your socks won't let them.

Crammed toes, slippery soles and bulky shoes all blunt the one thing footwork depends on — your connection to the ground. And nobody wants bare skin on a shared gym mat.

Five toes. Full grip. Total control.

Independent toe pockets let every toe spread and grip the way it's meant to, restoring balance and ground feel. Underneath, a silicone grip sole locks you to the mat through every pivot and plant — treated with an antimicrobial finish and fully machine-washable, so you train clean without putting bare skin on the floor.

Built in the gym, not a boardroom

FiveStarBoxing started with handmade gear for fighters who couldn't find equipment that held up. The grip trainers came from the same frustration — every training sock either crushed your toes, slid on the mat, or fell apart in a month. So we built our own: five toes free to move, gripped where you plant, and reinforced to survive the way you actually train.

Questions, answered

Do the toe pockets take getting used to?

Most people adjust within a session or two — the toe separation quickly feels more natural and stable than a regular sock, with better grip and balance.

Indoor training or outdoor?

Built for indoor mats, gym floors and footwork drills. The grip sole is tuned for pivoting and planting, not trail use.

What does 'antimicrobial-treated' mean?

The yarn carries an antimicrobial finish and the socks are fully machine-washable, so your feet aren't bare on shared mats.

How do I pick a size?

Sizes run S / M / L on standard sock sizing. Between sizes, take the larger.

Free your toes. Lock in your footwork.

The hygiene problem nobody talks about

You wouldn't share a towel with the whole gym. You're sharing the mat.

Every set of sweaty, barefoot feet that trained before you left something behind on that floor. Warm, damp and constantly re-contaminated, a training mat is one of the most reliable places on earth for fungi and bacteria to spread — and bare skin is exactly how they get onto you.

A shared training mat, up close. Everything that trained before you was here first.

What's actually living down there

This isn't scare-mongering — it's the reason wrestling and BJJ have skin-check rules. The same organisms show up again and again in combat gyms:

Dermatophyte fungus under the microscope
Fungi

Ringworm & athlete's foot

Dermatophyte fungi thrive on warm, damp mats and spread to anyone who walks or rolls barefoot.1,3

Staphylococcus bacteria under the microscope
Bacteria

Staph & MRSA

Spread by skin-to-skin contact and by contact with mats and shared gear — and can tear through a whole team.2

Ringworm ring-shaped skin patch
Ringworm

Tinea corporis

The tell-tale ring. The most common skin infection in wrestlers — and highly contagious.1

Athlete's foot flaking skin between the toes
Athlete's foot

Tinea pedis

Caught by walking barefoot where infected feet have been — gym floors, mats and locker rooms.3

The science, not the hype

24–77%

of a wrestling team can be infected in a single ringworm (tinea) outbreak.1

~20%

of time-loss in wrestling is caused by skin infections, per NCAA injury surveillance.4

Skin-to-mat

contact is a documented route for staph/MRSA outbreaks in combat gyms.2

2–3×

higher rates of athlete's foot & warts in athletes who train barefoot on shared surfaces.3

Magnified microbes on a gym mat surface
Magnified: what a "clean-looking" mat surface can still be carrying.

Put a barrier between you and the floor

You can't control who trained before you. You can control what's between your skin and the mat. FiveStar Grip Trainers add an antimicrobial-treated layer that cuts down the bare skin-to-mat contact these infections rely on — while keeping the grip and toe-splay you need for real footwork. Slide them on, plant, pivot, train.

Train cleaner

Stop putting bare skin on shared mats.

A five-toe grip sock with an antimicrobial-treated knit — the simplest way to reduce your exposure and keep your footwork sharp. Your feet touch the dirtiest surface in the gym. Cover them.

Note: FiveStar Grip Trainers are training apparel, not a medical device. They reduce skin-to-mat contact but do not prevent or cure any infection. Keep up normal hygiene — shower after training, wash gear, and cover open cuts.

The science in every step

Five-toe freedom, locked-in grip and light graduated compression — here's how it actually works.

FiveStar Grip Trainers — five-toe design, arch and ankle compression and non-slip hex grip

Why your feet feel the difference

Splitting every toe restores the natural splay your feet lost the day you first put on shoes — more surface area on the floor, more grip, more balance. Add a sole that bites the mat and you stop fighting for traction and start driving off it.

But footwork isn't only about grip. The longer you train, the more blood pools in your lower legs and the heavier your feet feel. That's where the compression earns its keep.

Graduated compression supports healthy circulation from ankle to calf

Compression that works with gravity, not against it

Pressure sits firmest at the ankle and eases as it climbs the calf — gently pushing tired blood back toward the heart instead of letting it settle in your feet. The payoff: fresher legs deep into the rounds and faster recovery after the bell.

Tested where it counts

Built for the mat. Proven in the cage.

From grappling scrambles on the ground to stand-up footwork, FiveStar Grip Trainers stay locked to the floor when it matters most — no slipping, no bunching, and never bare skin on a shared mat.

  • Grip that holds through scrambles and pivots
  • Toe separation for balance and a stable base
  • Reinforced to survive hard, repeated rounds
